why diet's don't work - Everyday Wellness
Want to know a surprising fact? I have yet to meet a woman who has never been on a diet at some point in her life.

If you’re a woman and you’re reading this, I bet you can think back to at least one time where you went on a diet. Maybe you tried a 3 day cleanse, or a 21 day fix, or even Atkins/South Beach/Weight Watchers, etc. There are so many different diets out there, which is why it makes it so easy for people to bounce around from diet to diet.

We are so focused on finding the “next best thing” that we are missing the truth that is staring us right in the face. Why are we always going from diet to diet? Because the diet you were on did not work. Let me say that again. The diets you are trying do not work. Let me tell you why.

1. They don’t create sustainable change

Diets are focusing on the short term, not the long-term. They might promise you that you’ll lose 10lbs in 2 weeks, but what about after that? How are you suppose to keep the weight off? They simply give you a quick fix instead of a long term solution.

2. They impact your metabolism

Extremely low calorie diets cause our body’s a lot of stress. When we follow these low calorie diets for an extended period of time they can actually decrease our metabolisms. This means that it will be even harder to lose weight.

3. They may increase cravings

When you are told that you can’t eat a certain food, it just increases our craving for it. In addition, if you are following a low calorie diet and your are starving your body, it will just intensity our cravings. Cravings are our body’s way of telling us that it is missing something.

4. They focus on “weight”

Diets often focus on just the number on the scale. You are only successful when your weight goes down. They ignore other signs of progress like increased energy, better sleep, lower blood sugar, losing inches, etc.

5. You’ll most likely regain the weight

About 95% of people of lose weight on a diet regain it within 1-5 years. Sometimes they gain even more weight than what they lost.

6. They don’t focus on quality

Many fad diets lack essential nutrients. They don’t teach you about healthy eat and how to choose quality foods.
